*WIN $100 Visa Gift Card from Tom’s Toothpaste*

This is a compensated review by BlogHer and Tom’s of Maine.

Recently I was asked by Tom’s of Maine if I’d be game to let my kids try their toothpaste on video.  I thought it sounded like fun.  Here’s a video of my youngest 2 girls trying out Tom’s Silly Strawberry toothpaste.   I remember trying a natural toothpaste years ago and not being especially in love with the flavor.  But this toothpaste tastes good!  It is also, in my girls’ words, ‘not so spicy’ as traditional toothpaste, which makes it more comfortable for little ones to use.

I will do anything to get my eight year old to brush – he thinks brushing your teeth and showers are not a good thing!

They like fruity toothpastes so we use that and they love the taste so they brush more often without being told and longer. shopgurl101@gmail.com

I got my son to brush his teeth by buying him an electric toothbrush, which makes it fun!

My 2 oldest are now in braces and the orthodontist gave each of them a small plastic hourglass – this tiny thing keeps them brushing for the required 2 minutes at bedtime without any fuss!

My kids have battery-operated toothbrushes, and they would brush their teeth 30 times a day if I let them. :0)

Electric toothbrush and then playing silly games like asking the child if we use the toothbrush to brush their belly button? No, silly. How about our ears? No…

we use Tom’s silly strawberry toothpaste and they love it!

My husband is crazy about the Tom’s brand. We use the toothpaste and deoderant. We will have to try the strawberry.

I don’t have kids, but when I do, I will get them to brush by making it a habit at a young age and explaining the importance of healthy teeth.

thankfully, our kids don’t mind brushing. it’s been a part of the bedtime routine forever and they do a great job! we do use “singing” a song to make sure they brush long enough.

i will do anything and try anything to get my son to brush! My daughter on the other hand would live with a toothbrush in her mouth if we let her!

  17. Faydra on January 2, 2010 at 7:43 pm

No problems getting my boys to brush – I think they like the spitting at the end! In fact, our task is getting them to brush long enough – still working on that.

  18. Jennifer on January 2, 2010 at 10:19 pm

I get my boys to brush using a little timer – they brush and watch the sand fall through the timer. Dentist gave us the timer! LOL! :)

  19. Michaele on January 2, 2010 at 10:42 pm

Older children help the younger children brush (many, many years ago, it was mom and dad, since children don’t really learn to brush properly until they are much older – some impressive and astounding age like 8 – I’ve forgotten now!)

  20. DG on January 3, 2010 at 11:21 am

My mom used to make a game out of it. We had to brush our teeth as well as possible or else the plaque monster would get us. Didn’t scare us but it did make us laugh

We buy fun toothpaste and sing the Happy Birthday song twice. We will have to try this toothpaste soon.

I have 6 children. Keeping my children strong and healthy is my goal. I try to use as many natural products as possible. A few months ago I purchased the silly strawberry toothpaste. My kids LOVE it! It seems to be a refreshing change for them from the spicy or bubblegum we normally are stuck with. From now on this is the toothpaste of choice for our family!

It doesn’t take a character tooth brush or sticker chart. Thanks to the educational efforts of her dentist, dental hygienist, and school health teacher, my daughter readily brushes, flosses, and rinses.

  26. Alicia on January 3, 2010 at 9:14 pm

My kids will easily brush their teeth with flavored toothpaste,
not as easy with the minty flavors!

  27. Melinda on January 4, 2010 at 7:31 am

I tell them their teeth will fall out like grandpa’s if they dont brush…that usually works, but sometimes they say “That would be funny, I dont care if my teeth fall out” You win some, you lose some!

my kids are pretty good about brushing…they like it…probably thanks to their teacher and dentist’s instruction!

We use toothbrushes that sing a song. They brush for the duration of the song and then they can be done. Sometimes they do it for a second song if they are having fun with it.

  31. Hilary Forrest on January 4, 2010 at 2:46 pm

My kids love to brush their teeth when they have toothpaste that has characters on the tube they recognize…like Disney. However, we just got some Tom’s Kid toothpaste for Christmas and we’ll see how they like it!

  32. Valerie on January 5, 2010 at 7:56 am

Character brushes and toothpaste helps a lot. I also stand in there and sing a silly song and they have to brush for the duration of the song and then they get to come int there and sing while I brush! It’s very funny!

We play games and it seems to work– the toothbrush as detective works well.

  39. Sandi on January 5, 2010 at 11:38 am

It’s been ingrained in them since they had teeth they need to take care of them! The tooth fairy always leaves messages when she picks up the teeth telling them if they’ve been doing a good job or not!

No kids here, but my sisters always get the little ones light-up toothbrushes that stay lit for the required time it takes to brush. Seems to work well for them.

  42. Katie C on January 5, 2010 at 9:39 pm

We do our morning routine & night routine together. My two year old loves shaving just like his daddy, and brushing his teeth like his mommy. We use Tom’s and I’m pretty sure my guy just sucks the tooth paste off…but at least we are forming a healthy habit!!

  43. Mary on January 5, 2010 at 10:22 pm

We just made it a routine and they easily comply. Never been a problem for our crew!

  44. Night Owl Mama on January 6, 2010 at 12:33 am

Our kids love to Brush and standing beside Mommy or Daddy is the way we start off the day. They imitate what we do and end when we do.

Brushing teeth was a part of the bedtime ritual and it was routine for my kids to brush their teeth
