Fitness Challenge Giveaways!

September 30, 2011

So we started the month with a challenge to you to exercise more during September.  How’d the month go for you?  I didn’t lift weights quite as much as I hoped to at the start of the month, but I ended well– and have the sore muscles today to prove it.  I am getting so buff that I can bench press a whole 48 pounds now.  ;)   OK, not buff, but definitely stronger than I was at the start of the month!

Today I’d like to give you the opportunity to enter the drawing for some of the cool stuff various companies have generously donated to encourage you along in your fitness.

That’s 6 different prizes, so I’ve got a request:  on every comment that you make, please include the PRIZE NUMBER of your top THREE prize choices.  (Prize numbers are listed in descriptions, above.)  By specifying which prizes you’re most interested in, you’ll be more likely to get the prize you really want. OK?

Now, for ways to enter:

Entry #1 — Comment below telling me about your fitness goals this month.   How well do you feel like you met your goals?    Anyone who tried to fit in more exercise this month can comment here, whether or not you feel like you were completely successful.

Entry #2 — Did you exercise at least two days each week?  Comment and tell me (on average) how many days you exercised each week!

Entry #3 — Did part of your fitness include going for walks with your children or taking them swimming this month?  Awesome job!  Comment and tell me how many days you  exercised with your kids this month.  (Guesstimates are fine.)

Entry #4 –Did you exercise five or more days EVERY week?  Hooray, you get another entry!

Entry #5 — Did you exercise TODAY?  Yay, you get another entry!!  (And yes, it is legal to go for a run right now and come back and comment!)

Entry #6 — Did you have a baby in September?  You get an entry!  (After all, is there a more athletic event in a woman’s life??  I don’t think so!)

I hope that if you made it all the way through this post you have a smile on your face, and that the September fitness challenge was an encouragement to you.  I will ship prize #’s 3-6 anywhere, so Canadians and other friends in other countries, feel free to join in.  Shipping for prizes #1 and #2 will be up to the discretion of the companies supplying those prizes.  I’ll be announcing winners on Tuesday!

2, 5, 1 (entry #3) My son also joined the gym. He’s 16 and getting really buff. We went together only about 2 or 3 times though each of us went more often on our own. Also I walked with my 3 kids once or twice this month. We usually walk more, but we’re adjusting to all 3 of them being in high school this month.

I started running portions of the walking route I’ve been using. I can only run a block at a time, 3 blocks total out of the 2 mile route, but, hey, it’s more running than I’ve done in years! And I’m inspired Mary, as a member of the “can’t-run-between-two-telephone-poles” club, that, like you, with persistence I’ll be running that 5K someday.

Well let’s start by saying I had my baby in September, so that’s one entry!
would love the book (3) or the Large shirt (5). I’m not eligible for the other prizes so here’s my top 2.

  24. 74
    Nic says:

Because I was so very pregnant my ability to exercise was limited, but I did attend my “pregnant and fit” class each week and tried to go for a walk or a bicycle ride each day. Because riding bikes is our main form of transportation within town, you could have seen me take my daughter to the sitter’s on my bike on my due date!

Thank goodness toddler speed and pregnant speed are about the same. We also walked to the corner store so I think we went for a walk or a bike ride together about 15 days in September.

I took one of my sons swimming 4 times this month. His lessons ended up being cancelled while his siblings’ lessons were not, so I wanted him to get some water time, too, and it was fun for me.

    Kathy says:

    Entry 1 for #1,3,4
My exercise schedule was hijacked when my hubby went out of town for 2 weeks, and my kids have been sick since day 1 of that with back to back high fevers. The worst thing about the whole ordeal was not being able to fit in my sanity runs!

  42. 92
    Kathy says:

    Entry 2 for #1,3,4
If I had to average it, I did exercise at least twice a week. But the high point was 5 times a week and the low was zero when kids were sick.

    Kathy says:

    Entry 3 for #1,3,4
This month my daughter starting running with me! At 7 years old, she wants to join me on my next 5K! It’s so much fun to have her run with me – it’s almost a pleasure to slow my pace because it draws out our quality time together!
