Fitness Challenge Giveaways!
So we started the month with a challenge to you to exercise more during September. How’d the month go for you? I didn’t lift weights quite as much as I hoped to at the start of the month, but I ended well– and have the sore muscles today to prove it. I am getting so buff that I can bench press a whole 48 pounds now.
OK, not buff, but definitely stronger than I was at the start of the month!
Today I’d like to give you the opportunity to enter the drawing for some of the cool stuff various companies have generously donated to encourage you along in your fitness.
- PRIZE #1- Awesome running T-shirt from YMX Yellowman– you choose the size!
- PRIZE #2- $30 gift certificate to FashionToFigure.com with ladies sizes from 12-26. (My faves: top | dress| sweater)
- PRIZE #3- A copy Run Like a Mother: How to Get Moving–and Not Lose Your Family, Job, or Sanity
.
- PRIZE#4 — Ladies’ Medium ‘Run’ T-shirt that I designed at ooshirts.com.
- PRIZE#5 — Ladies Large ‘Run’ T-shirt that I designed at ooshirts.com.
- PRIZE #6- Ladies’ XL ‘Run’ T-shirt that I designed at ooshirts.com.
That’s 6 different prizes, so I’ve got a request: on every comment that you make, please include the PRIZE NUMBER of your top THREE prize choices. (Prize numbers are listed in descriptions, above.) By specifying which prizes you’re most interested in, you’ll be more likely to get the prize you really want. OK?
Now, for ways to enter:
Entry #1 — Comment below telling me about your fitness goals this month. How well do you feel like you met your goals? Anyone who tried to fit in more exercise this month can comment here, whether or not you feel like you were completely successful.
Entry #2 — Did you exercise at least two days each week? Comment and tell me (on average) how many days you exercised each week!
Entry #3 — Did part of your fitness include going for walks with your children or taking them swimming this month? Awesome job! Comment and tell me how many days you exercised with your kids this month. (Guesstimates are fine.)
Entry #4 –Did you exercise five or more days EVERY week? Hooray, you get another entry!
Entry #5 — Did you exercise TODAY? Yay, you get another entry!! (And yes, it is legal to go for a run right now and come back and comment!)

I hope that if you made it all the way through this post you have a smile on your face, and that the September fitness challenge was an encouragement to you. I will ship prize #’s 3-6 anywhere, so Canadians and other friends in other countries, feel free to join in. Shipping for prizes #1 and #2 will be up to the discretion of the companies supplying those prizes. I’ll be announcing winners on Tuesday!

I stuck with my fitness goal of working out at least 30 min. 3 days a week.
#1,2,4
I was able to exercise up to 4 days each week.
#1,2,4
#2,5,1
My goals are to do 1 hour at least 3x a week. And I succeeded this week! Yay!
#2,5,1
I’ve exercised 5x each week this month. Each week I’ve taken 2 Zumba classes and 3 days of jogging/walking around the track for an hour during my boys’ football practice.
#2,5,1
I exercised today around the track!
I feel like I failed this month. It was the start of a bunch of new things for us – including 2 kids in school (one homeschooled) and I wasn’t able to establish the best time for exercise. I did walk some each day – to pick up my kids from school, to check the mail. But I don’t feel like it was enough to count for much. Anyway, with the small chance I have to win anything, I’ll still put #2, #1, #5.
)
I wish there were smaller t-shirt sizes available. My fitness goals were to keep doing what I’ve been doing.
#1, #4
Just FYI in case anyone else is wondering about sizing, the ‘Run’ t-shirts are a fitted ladies’ style– I often fit into a medium these days but in these shirts I needed a large. On the other hand, the YMX Yellowman shirts are cut more generously. A medium is what I am wearing in the picture.
I do official workouts (Insanity) six days a week. Every week.
#1
I exercise with my kids everyday. Sprinting, jumping, tag and dancing are our favorites.
#1
Yes! I follow the Insanity program and exercise six days a week.
Yes! The kids and I walked to the park for our homeschool PE class and then I did Insanity Core Cardio and Balance.
I’ve been making an effort to walk on the treadmill every work day, I’ve made most of them, and for the most part, done 30 minutes.
#1, #3, #5
I wanted to exercise more and I did, usually 3-4 times a week.
#1, #3, #5
I averaged 4 times a week. Mon, Wed, Friday and usually a long hike in the smokey mountains on Saturdays!
#1, #3, #5
I did exercise this morning 0700-0750!
My goal was to get ready for my first sprint triathlon coming up on Oct. 16 and I feel good about it! (#1, #4)
I averaged 4 days per week. I exercised at least 5 times per week but not quite 5 days per week — some of those days were “brick” workouts (swim-bike, bike-run) and then I’d take a day off to recover. (#1, #4)
My eldest daughter and I are both training for a 5K in November. I’m guessing we exercised together 8 times over the month, counting swimming, jogging, and biking. (#1, #4)
I exercised today — a 40-minute jog and it felt so great that I texted my husband: “awesome run!” — those words would not have come from me 6 months ago! (#1, #4)
My fitness goal this month was to start running 2-3x a week. I was successful until this last week, when I got sidelined by a cold. Hopefully I can come back strong in October!
(Prize preferences: #1, #3, #4)
Yes, I exercised (on average) 2 days each week! I got in 3-4 runs some weeks, which helped my averages.
(Prize preferences: #1, #3, #4)
I exercised with my kids 6 (I think) days this month. My favorite day was the family walk we did for our church’s justice ministry. My almost 3-year-old daughter wanted to run-so she ran the whole mile! So proud of her.
(Prize preferences: #1, #3, #4)
My goal was to exercise a minimum of two days a week! I joined a local Zumba group and did it! Yay me!
I exercised today!
#2,1,3
I exercised at least two days a week, but not five. I’m getting there though!
#2,1,3
I ran 3 miles today!
#1,4,3
I run 3 days each week!
#1,4,3
I walked with the hubby, kids and dog twice this week!
#1,4,3
I wanted to get back into the exercise routine, and don’t think I did nearly as well as I wanted. I did get at least some time in at least 2x a week, including today, so I think that will earn me three entries. Preferences: 1, 6, 2, 3 (ok, that’s four, but they all sound good)

Entry #3: I wanted to get back into the exercise routine, and don’t think I did nearly as well as I wanted. My biggest goal was to do my physical therapy every day all month, and I did it! I stuck with my goal of walking my neighborhood, but did not meet my goal of doing it every day. I joined a gym and started taking Zumba classes. I started running again but then stopped after a week. I already have my fitness goals picked out for October. Thanks for the inspiration. 1, 2, 3.
My fitness goal was to train for a relay race. My leg was a cross country run much shorter than I prefer. My training focused on sprinting, which is not my favorite thing to do. I met my goal pretty well.
(Prize 1, 4, 2)
I exercised an average of three times per week.
Prize 1, 4, 2
I just got back from spin class!!
Prize 1, 4, 2
I did much better this month after getting off my early pregnancy restrictions and since the weather finally cooled off! #2, 1, 6
I exercised twice this week. I usually aim for three days. #2, 1, 6
I take my daughter with me to Stroller Strides-we try to make mama’s workout fun for the kids too. I also take her on walks and go to the zoo every chance we get. We walked over three miles at the zoo yesterday! #2, 1, 6
#1: I’m running my first marathon this month, my goal is to finish in 5 hours!
I would choose prize six!
#2 I exercise 5 days/ week though I’m looking forward to some time off from this after the race.
#3 I took one son swimming one time this month. I need to make it more of a priority.
#4: I’ve run five days a week for the last 14 weeks!
#5: I ran 12 miles today.
And since I don’t qualify for #6 I’ll add my comment on this one: to date it’s my highest athletic achievement, I can’t wait to see if the marathon is harder.
I’d choose prize six!
Entry #1 – I set a goal for total miles to run/walk in September and achieved it.
Entry #2 – I exercised at least 3 days a week but some sometimes managed 4-5 days a week.
prizes # 1, 2, 6
Entry #3 I walked/ran to the park at least once a week with all three of my children. My 9-year-old joined me on evening runs about once a week.
prizes 1, 2, 6
entry #5 – Yesterday (the 30th) I did 30 minutes of strength training. Today I ran with the dog before spending the day with my children.
2, 5, 1. (entry #1) This month I joined a gym and started exercising for the first time in years. I did okay. My work schedule combined with weekend conferences and house guests meant that I didn’t go as much as I’d hoped. But also, I really couldn’t go when I had a houseguest–it would have been rude. So overall, I’m satisfied with the progress I’m making.
2, 5, 1 (entry #2) My goal is to go to the gym 3 times a week. I made this EXCEPT for the week my house guest was here. I went this week even though I had a nasty stinking rotten cold!
