Giveaway: 300 Best Rice Cooker Recipes

September 28, 2011

This book was given to me in exchange for a review. The opinions expressed are my own.
Today’s cookbook giveaway is so up my alley!  I’ve blogged several times about my love of rice cookers.  300 Best Rice Cooker Recipes shares tons of new recipes that can be done entirely in the rice cooker, along with some that are partially cooked in the rice cooker. And better yet, these recipes come from a whole variety of cuisines.  There’s Japanese food, Malaysian food, Italian, Moroccan, and on and on.

I tried a recipe for Chai-Spiced Oatmeal that had yummy flavors.  I’m planning on trying Quinoa Chicken Chili soon.  I’m also looking forward to trying Cheesy Grits with Shrimp. Some of the recipes call for ingredients that I don’t usually have on hand, but almost all the recipes look simple and easy to do, so a little shopping should take care of that potential stumbling block.

To be entered to win a copy of this cookbook, comment below and tell me one ethnic cuisine you’d like to learn more about.   For me, I think it’d have to be Indian or Middle Eastern food.   How about you?  If you’d like a second entry, just tweet about it or ‘like’ this giveaway on facebook.

I’ll announce a winner on Friday!

I’d like to learn more about Indian cuisine. I have a curried chicken dish that I make with some Indian specialty spices, but I’d love to know how to make more dishes.

I love my rice cooker by the way. I am looking at getting a bigger one since the one I have is a little small for feeding our family and having enough left over for a second meal.

Even though I already cook pretty good Indian food, I’d like to learn more more more! I’m always looking for ways to make it more authentic tasting.

For those of you looking for an easy entry into Indian food, I’d suggest Six Spices by Neeta Saluja. The two most difficult things about cooking Indian food are 1) acquiring the new ingredients (but once you have them, you’re set!) and 2) it’s time consuming. Lots of chopping and adding ingredients in stages.

    But it’s so worth it!

I pretty much like trying any ethnic food, but I have to admit that I find Chinese foods the hardest to figure out. Incidentally, this looks like a great cookbook for me – I tried to make spanish rice in my rice cooker without a recipe…it turned into quite a nightmare before it was all over. So, I’ve just been sticking to very basic things since then. Love my rice cooker, I asked for it for Christmas because of your recommendation.
