Ready for homeschooling week?
Don’t forget the Country Crock and Green Mountain coffee giveaways! And the winner of the book Maman’s Homesick Pie is commenter #23 Chavonne. Email me your address, Chavonne, and I will get the book headed your direction!

This week’s giveaways are all about homeschooling! Where do you buy your homeschooling supplies? If I set out to buy a used book, I’ll often start by checking amazon or ebay. But when I’m buying a consumable book brand new, I usually buy it either at Curriculum Cottage (a homeschooling curriculum store in my area) or at Timberdoodle. I’ve been customers at both of these places for years and have been really pleased with the assistance and service they offer.
Today I am delighted to be offering you a $25 Timberdoodle gift certificate. You can enter the drawing to win this gift certificate in two ways. (And no, you don’t HAVE to be a homeschooler!) For your first entry, leave a comment here and tell me where you usually get educational goodies for your kids, whether they be books or board games or flash cards or whatever. The second way that you can enter is to ‘follow’ my blog either on Networked Blogs or via Feedburner and leave a second comment mentioning that you have done so.
Tomorrow I am planning a post describing an average day of homeschooling at my house, and later in the week I have more book giveaways planned. Happy homeschooling!

I often use CBD or I get it straight from the publisher. Once in a while I get things from Amazon.
I LOVE Timberdoodle but don’t usually order b/c their shipping is expensive. I usually find great goodies and save greatly at the local homeschool used book sales. For new stuff, many times I order from Christian Book Distributors.
I subscribe by e-mail.
I just placed my very first order ever from Timberdoodle for my new kindergartener. Excited to begin the homeschooling journey
Ok, just signed up via Google reader. Now, off to do some school! =D
We love Timberdoodle. But I mostly buy from used curriculum sales and occasionally from CBD.
Just subscribed via email!
Hi, I buy from many different places: publishers, ebay, amazon, rainbow resources, local homeschoolers.
I buy from Timberdoodle, Amazon, the publishers, used curriculum sales- wherever I can get the best deal
We purchased most of our materials from Rod and Staff Books.
I usually use Amazon because they usually have 4 for 3 deals on many great books.
I buy most items from friends or Amazon.
I usually shop at Rainbow Resource.
I like Rainbow Resources and several of the Sonlight products.
I subscribe via Feedburner.
I get our stuff locally used, if I can, or from a great store in Ontario called The Learning House http://www.learninghouse.ca
We usually buy from Rainbow Resource or Amazon. Thanks for a great giveaway!
Timberdoodle has become my favorite place to buy my homeschooling materials. I love the videos that they do for curriculum comparison. I also find the reviews to be very helpful. The customer service is also great and they have answered my questions with details and have been a great help in my homeschooling adventure.
subscribed to email.
So far (one kindergartner, two preschoolers), I’ve gotten a lot of stuff passed along to me or from yard sales! But if I need/want something specific, I have used Amazon or a used book site.
I’ve already followed/subscribed your blog in Google Reader–does that count? Just ignore/delete this second comment if not! Thanks!!
I’m just getting started with my four year old, but so far I’ve used Amazon and the publisher. I’ve been drooling over the Timberdoodle catalog though!
I already subscribe via Google Reader!
we don’t homeschool, but I will purchase items for my kids to supplement their public schooling through Amazon, or sometimes through their Scholastic school flyers, and then once in a while I’ll pick something up at our local Barnes and Noble.
I sometimes use Rainbow Resource. Most of the time I just order from Sonlight:)
I just visited Timberdoodle last night for the first time. I love it. We’re going to be getting the geo puzzles for our 5 and 3 year olds.
Since it’s our first year homeschooling we’ve gotten many things from friends, but bought something right from the company or Amazon.
There is a wonderful local store here (Omaha) called Adoremus. They stock a lot of Homechooling books, and it is wonderful to be able to flip through something before you buy it.
CBD, Rainbow Resource, and Amazon are where the majority of our supplies come from. Basically wherever I can find the best price on an item.
Woohooo! I am super excited about this. We use Sonlight, so I get most of my books with our Core. Otherwise, we use Amazon a lot, and I recently ordered from Rainbow Resource and was very happy with their service.
And I already follow your blog via Google Reader.
I am a homeschooler and I buy things at yard sales, used book sales and amazon. I try to maximize our dollars!
my sister is a kindergarten teacher, so most of our supplies for our only under-4 crowd come from her
and, i’m a follower via google reader!
we have gotten lots of our games and puzzles from timberdoodle. most books we get from amazon or cbd.
i follow ongoogle reader
I usually buy my homeschooling supplies from ebay, amazon, or from the publisher.
I get most of our stuff from amazon.com or Rainbow Resource. I’ll have to check our Timberdoodle. Thanks for a chance to win!
I love Rainbow Resources.
We get most of our homeschool curriculum from the library, our unclaimed freight store (amazing what you can find there), freelyeducate.com, worksheetworks.com, and other free resources (my mother-in-law, for example, works in a school and sometimes gathers unused items that they are tossing for us).
Following you via google!
We usually find goodies online at Amazon or CBD or at our local Knowledge Tree stores.
I always shop online and tend to use amazon.
Following via Google reader!
I follow your blog with my google reader.
For our family of avid readers (plus, we use either Beautiful Feet or Sonlight–both literature-based curriculums), I have found that paperbackswap.com is my first go-to for books. After that, ebay, amazon.com, and CBD. If you haven’t checked http://www.paperbackswap.com out, do it! Even if it seems like way to much work to send books out, you can buy 3 credits for $10 (plus a 50 cent processing fee), making each book less than $4–a good deal!
So far, I’ve purchased a few things from a homeschool curriculum fair and preschool workbooks and flashcards from Wal-Mart and Target. I also just learned that we have a used curriculum store within an hour’s drive! My oldest is about to turn 5, so I’m just getting started, but I can’t wait!
First, I take my list to Bibliomania, a local used curriculum shop — always a treasure hunt! What I can’t get used, I buy as much as I can from Rainbow Resources — best prices & service around! After that, I make a few purchases from individual vendors & our local Mardel Christian bookstore. Buying curriculum for the coming school year is one of my favorite parts of homeschooling!
I buy everything at the annual homeschool fair!
I buy most of our curriculum from Catholic Heritage Curricula and Timberdoodle. We also really enjoy Usborne books as supplements.
I look for goodies everywhere! But most of it comes from My Father’s World or Sonlight.
