Recipe Makeovers

January 5, 2011

I’ve been obsessed with this website lately. Paste the ingredient list for your favorite recipe into the box, and find out exactly how many calories it is.  Play with the ingredients a bit, and you’ll end up with a better idea of what makes a meal healthy.   No nutrition degree needed.  This Tasty Tuna Melt is one I modified recently.  Yummy!

Ooh! I’ve used this website before, but never knew about this feature…and would have never thought of using it to figure out a healthier way to make a recipe. What a good idea! Thank you!! :)

Hey Mary–Another great link that helps folks figure out the nutritional value of foods is sparkpeople.com –though you have to sign up for a (free) membership to access it.

I like your tool because it offers quick access, but SparkPeople also gives ALL the nutritional info…so maybe it’s a toss up? :)

Anyhow. I ramble. Thanks for the link.
