I made this last night and like it better than the store bought eggnog. My eggnog loving sons won't be home until later, I am excited to try it out on them. I may not tell them how to make it though since we might start going through milk faster than when I forget the last time and buy chocolate syrup again. :P

Made this using Fat-Free Milk Sugar Free Pudding and Splenda as substitutes...It was great my family loved it. Egg Nog even the light has tons of sugar and fat and with a diabetic hubby he usually has to miss out...not this year and it was so cheap and easy to make

Your recipe looks very yummy, but for those who prefer all-natural ingredients, here is a recipe I tried a few weeks ago for homemade cooked egg nog. It's so good...I even drank some of it hot, which was great, and it thickens up a lot in the fridge when you chill it.

Homemade (Cooked) Egg Nog

-6 egg yolks (do not use whole egg)
-1/4 cup sugar
-1/4 tsp salt
-1 quart milk
-1 tsp vanilla
-1/4 tsp nutmeg (optional)
-1/4 tsp cinnamon (optional)

PREPARATION: Beat eggs, sugar and salt together in a mixing bowl. Whisk in the milk. Cook mixture over a double boiler whisking occasionally. When it is fairly thick and thinly coats a spoon, remove from heat. Remove from heat and mix in the vanilla, nutmeg, and cinnamon.

I found the recipe at:

That sounds yummy- I'll try that next time! This is the recipe I usually use:

1 can sweetened condensed milk
2 raw eggs (optional)
1/4 tsp. salt
1 tsp vanilla
Mix well

add: 4 cups milk (I use 6)

whip until peaks form and fold in: 1 cup heavy cream

top with grated nutmeg

I generally make it in the blender.
