Thanksgiving Kitchen Giveaway
This week I have a great giveaway! This Emerilware Stainless 4-Quart Sauce Pan was given to me by CSN stores. It is sturdy and feels very high quality. The Emeril line of cookware is made by All-Clad. It is not QUITE as heavy feeling as my beloved All Clad stock pot, but pretty darned close. The handle has a good feel, and I love the clear lid. The pot has excellent conduction of heat. I discovered it worked best to cook things on a lower setting because the pot is so efficient.
I was pleasantly surprised at how large it was. These days I use some pretty huge pots, and while I wouldn’t be able to make my customary double batch of soup in it, this pot is big enough to warm up the leftovers the next day, or make the sauce to top a batch of pasta, or cook some veggies for a side dish.
To enter the drawing for this cool pot, simply tell me the part of the Thanksgiving meal that you most enjoy. I will be choosing a winner among commenters one week from today. If you’d like a second entry to this contest, mention the contest on your blog.
Good luck and Happy Thanksgiving! We have so much to be thankful for!

Can I enter even though I celebrated last month already?
I think I like the leftovers best. It can mean days of not prepping food, but just thinking of quick ways to use the cooked food. Turkey shepherd’s pie with mashed sweet potatoes on top, simple sandwiches with the turkey-cranberry-cheese-ham-whatever on it, soup from the turkey carcass with peas and carrots, etc. I wish my in-laws would drive into town and let me host the meal once so that I could claim most of the leftovers!
I love being with family and all of the yummy food, especially my mom’s stuffing. I love that we take time to be thankful to God for all His amazing blessings.
My mother’s cranberry salad. My Mom passed away when I was in my 20′s, but my older sister makes it faithfully for me every year.
I love the pies… coconut cream… pecan… pumpkin… the more pies the better!
Sweet potatoes! We make them two ways – sweet potato pudding with pecan crumble and diced sweet potatoes with marshmallows.
I am a major roll girl..I could dine a whole thanksgiving on just rolls and cranberry sauce…yum
I love the potatoes . . . and cranberry sauce . . . and dessert . . . and . . .
The table filled to overflowing with food! It reminds me how richly blessed we are.
My favorite food item is homemade cranberry bread. YUM!!!
The part of the Thanksgiving meal that I most enjoy is being with all of my siblings, their families, and our parents. We all sit around the huge table, laughing and talking throughout the meal. It is one of the only times that the entire family gets together, and it doesn’t happen every year, which make it even more special!
I like sitting down to eat with everyone – it makes whatever’s on that plate that more special. Sadly, it won’t happen this year, as I’m pregnant and due on Saturday, so travel is out for us!
While I love sitting around the table with everyone eating and telling stories until long after we’ve eaten, there’s nothing like the walk my husband and I take after dinner in the cool of the night.
sweet potatoes with marshmellows!!
Before the last couple years it was always about the food, but since we’ve lost our last two grandparents and my parents we now realize, more importantly, it’s all about family and time we have together.
stuffing…..yummy!
I would have to say the homemade rolls and bread are my all-time favorite! Although, having been forced to go gluten-free, I am still struggling to recreate them successfully.
Two words: corn souffle. Whole corn, cream corn, eggs, sour cream, butter and a small box of corn muffin mix. Simple, CHEAP and oh, so good.
Spending the day eating food made with love by the ones you love!
I love the desserts.
I love the Sweet Potato Casserole!!! I have heard that it differs from region to region. We put lots of butter in it and top it with a yummy nut and brown sugar topping! My mouth is watering!
My favourite part of Thanksgiving dinner is my pumpkin pie with whipped cream! Thanks for sharing a great find – and for being an awesome woman and blogger
)
I love Thanksgiving dinner! The best part is mashed sweet potato casserole. I make it with brown sugar, crushed pineapple and top it with with marshmallows! I miss when the children were all young and at home. Today they live all over the world (military) but knowing they are safe and warm makes all the difference.
I have blogged about it for a second entry. Thanks for this giveaway! http://crossyr.blogspot.com/2009/11/thanksgiving-kitchen-giveaway.html
I’d love to win! My favorite part of the meal is having everyone together, and my very favorite thing to make and EAT is my roasted garlic brussels sprouts. oh my, can not wait.
Steph
I really enjoy the blackberry pie. It brings back so many memories from my childhood!
I love the familial camaraderie, when it exists.
And the stuffing.
I have gotten Twin Falls library to order your book! But I couldn’t wait, and I bought it at Costco the other day. Love it!
Just one part? The stuffing and vegetables. No, the turkey. But the best part is a turkey/stuffing sandwich the next day.
Pickled Beets and Eggs, a German dish and a family tradition. It might sound weird or not one of the typical dishes for most, but for my family it’s simply NOT Thanksgiving without it.
Hard boiled eggs mixed with a can of sliced beets and flavored with apple cider vinegar and sugar until it just tastes right. It’s such a huge treat and the one special dish I could keep making now that I’m married with my own family and pass on the love of this dish to my kids too. It carries such fond childhood memories of past Thanksgivings and everyone is always extremely excited over this dish.
And my second favorite is the oil-less turkey fryer we splurged on for Christmas last year because now my husband does all the turkey work and my oven is still available to make everything else.
My favorite part is food prep by far, and the pre-prep of deciding what to cook. Hmm, no the best part is that I love feeding people and hearing sighs of contentment at something I created. Thanks for your great blog. I found you years ago when we first started researching Ethiopian adoption. Now we wait for a referral of two kiddos. Thanks for the inspiration.
I love the tradition of it all- the dishes year after year, the same comments, the same people, the same dishes.
My favorite part of the meal to do with food is my mother’s dressing. Nobody makes it like her.
As for the day itself my favorite part is everyone naming what they are thankful to God for over the past year.
We plan to start a new tradition tomorrow as our family is going to teach our extended family to sing Psalm 100C. We love singing the Psalms.
Have a blessed Thanksgiving!
Tracy
I love my mother-in-law’s oyster stuffing.
My favorite part of the Thanksgiving meal is the gravy! The turkey is pretty good too =)
Vegetables! I love the variety of dishes.
lily and i are planning our feast for tomorrow. our favorite part of thanksgiving is lily doing all the work!
love the site redesign, mary!!!
LILY WANTS TO WIN THIS!
My favorite part of the Thanksgiving meal is all the potatoes! Mashed potatoes with gravy, sweet potatoes with marshmellows and pumpkin pie (not a potato, but much like one when cooked!)
By the way, I have an Emeril sauce pan with clear lid that I picked up at a garage sale. I love it’s heavy bottom. Things don’t seem to stick to the bottom of the pan as easily. I’d love to have this matching pot!!
being together as a family and making a special plate for the pets =)
For the food…I love all of it…we usually have food that we do not ordinarily have….turkey, dressing, pies…this year, I will be making a new favorite…Eggnog Cream Pie…and I look forward to that as well…
The best part of Thanksgiving for me though is twofold…really focusing on having a heart of Thankfulness for how God has sustained us…as we have been through a difficult year due to the economy, sometimes we even have to be thankful when we do not have…and that has been tough.
The other best part is being with extended family you do not see much. There are uncles, aunts, cousins, etc that we do not have the privelege of seeing often and it is a blessing to reconnect and enjoy them when we are together.
C~
The desserts are my favorite part and you know why? Because I can finally sit down and enjoy them (if only for a moment. smile).
Apple pie
Pumpkin pie.
yum yum
God bless all of you and hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving!
I would love to have this pot. My favorite part of Thanksgiving dinner is smoked turkey!! I love it!
My favorite part is having everyone sit together with extended family and catching up with everyones lies.
My favorite meal is the turkey with gravy, my yummy high fattening mashed potatoes with cranberry sauce and topped off with pumpkin pie and lots of whip cream
My favorite part of the Thanksgiving meal (after the prayer of thanks, of course!) involves sitting back and soaking in the sounds of people visiting as they greet each other, fill their plates from the counter, and sit down to eat. I love to hear the mixture of baby sounds, teens, and grandparents all together!
My favorite part is the blessing. It is one of the few days of the year that my dad shares a meal with us and he always blesses the food before we eat. I just love to see the shine in his eyes as he looks over his children and grandchidren, all at the same table, and I know he’s thinking how very blessed he is and how wonderful is God’s plan.
My favorite part of Thanksgiving is getting to make a huge, fancy, not worrying about being thrifty meal for my family and relatives with lots of desserts!
I love mashed potatoes, gravy, and the turkey. And I love your new cookbook! Thanks so much.
Barb
Homeschooling mom to 6 kids
The best part is that I don’t do any of the work – I simply show up with rolls! Its a wonderful day with family, minus the chaos and buying frenzy of Christmas – LOVE IT!
How to choose?! So many good things to eat, but I think the pies are my favorite. Have a wonderful Thanksgiving!
My favorite part of the meal would be the PIE!
Sitting around the dinner table, having everyone say what they are thankful for. The PIE also is a favorite!!! Happy Thanksgiving!!
i like that quiet moment when everyone has taken their first bite and there’s no sound except everyone chewing in blissful grateful silence….such a wonderful feeling of peace.
oh, and i’m a fan of mashed potatoes:-)
Happy Thanksgiving, thanks for this great giveaway!
My favorite part of the meal is eating it as leftovers for the next few days! Turkey sandwiches with cranberry sauce and pumpkin pie…my kind of dinner!
