  1. We’ve been loving roasted tomatoes this summer! Yum! I’ll blend them with roasted garlic for a scrumptious pasta sauce.

  2. This one was easy & yummy & a good way to use up extra zucchini! I brought it to a potluck & it was gobbled up fast.

  3. Hi Mary,
I did not try any new recipes this week (though did can strawberries for the first time on Sunday and tomatoes for the first time last week).
However I HAVE recently acquired your “Sane Woman’s” book and am really enjoying. We only have 3 kids so far but hope to have more and also to adopt. I really appreciate your common sense approach and mentoring-oriented style.

I just blogged about your ’15 minutes better’ on my blog (focused on Christ-centered parenting of preschoolers) – see

Blessings to you; I plan to get your Family Feasts book next. I can learn a lot from you – and already am.
    In Him,
    Susan

  4. Hey Mary! I hear you, running out of things that make life a little more comfortable, I was just blogging about that last night. I think chlorine for the pool qualifies as a non-food item, to protect your investment!
I tried your Chicken Pot Pie with Cheesy Biscuits last night, yummo!! Blogged about that too!!
14 days to go! Can’t wait to hit Walmart and Aldi to stock up again!

  5. Yes – your book Family Feast! I cannot wait to try some of your recipes. Super awesome!! Not that I have many readers – but I’ll post up reviews soon too.

Oh yes – I’ve also made this recipe about 5 times too many in the past 2 weeks!

  6. I’m just working my way through your book at the moment – LOVING it! Made the cheesy corn and potato chowder last night, along with baked potatoes and your Big Biscuits (I did half the recipe – I only have 3 kids). chowder BIG hit. And discovered buying russet potatoes in a bag saves a lot of $ vs picking them out of the bin! used the smaller ones for the chowder and the large ones for baking and still have enough for another meal – yes!

  7. I need to ask a couple stupid questions but just wanted to verify. In your recipe for the Brownie Torte under the brownie part it says 1/2 semi-sweet chocolate chips is that 1/2 cup and under the ganache part it says 4 1/2 ounces semi-sweet chocolate is that semi-sweet baking squares? I really want to make this but with all the ingredients did not want to mess it up!

  8. I tried Curried Chicken and Rice Casserole from your new book–it is in the oven right now. I was wondering, though, it seemed like an awful lot of stuff to put in an 8 inch casserole. I had to use a 9×13. Did I do something wrong?
