September 13, 2009

When I went to the grocery store yesterday, which ONE item did I buy? The first person to guess correctly gets a signed copy of my book Family Feasts for $75 a Week.

That’s something we always think we have and once in a while, we run out. And it’s essential in many recipes even if it’s a 1/4 teaspoon!

Your book arrived from Amazon finally Friday but I’d give one to my daughter if I won. We made the chocolate zucchini cake this afternoon when one of my daughters said “Do we have any chocolate??” It was delicous cake, I only changed 3 things in the recipe (I ALWAYS CHANGE RECIPES) vanilla for the cinnamon ancient pecans for the walnuts and 1/2 cup of applesauce for some of the oil.

I was thinking ice cream when I first read this because it was such a nice hot day and you did most likely use it up at the party. Not sure if that one item would be this…I am curious what you did buy!

This is because I just looked in my cabinet and we accidentally bought self rising the other week (which I seldom use) and now means I have to buy flour next week (I still have a bag of regular but it’s not something you can substitute for if you run out so I try to keep extra in the freezer).
