My sister (and brother!) and I used to do this in the summer when we were kids. We didn't have a machine yet, so our maid washed our clothes by hand (and my goodness did she get them clean! Also got all the stretch out of my cotton tshirts...sigh) The kids loved to "help" and I have some great pics of them doing so. Later on, when we spent a month in a village and I was the one doing the washing, it wasn't considered nearly as much fun. This reminds me of when we first moved to Africa.
