Christmas ornament craft

November 29, 2008

Yesterday morning I hit the craft store in hopes of finding a fun craft. I got some ideas from pre-made kits, but ended up buying 4 bags of beads and a spool of wire rather than a kit. The craft was fun for everyone. We had fun coming up with a variety of crazy creations. Pipe cleaners and pony beads made an easy variation for my youngest daughter. We did a lot of beading ourselves. Our became a myriad of bracelets for Christmas gifts.

Those decorations are lovely. I hope you count the session towards a homeschool Art Activity because the projects are very much a creative outlet.

One of my favorite books about homemade tree decorations is an old paperback bought from a school Book Fair fundraiser.

is still on my shelf all these years.
Ones I looked up online must be second edition, but still not very expensive.

Thanks for the great new ideas. I too shopped at Michael’s a few weeks ago and bought pipe cleaners and tri-beads. My almost three-year-old daughter LOVES making candy canes, wreaths and snowflakes – especially when her little brother is in bed and we can have Mommy/Daughter crafttime on the floor without having to keep beads away from the baby.
